How To Make Money With Your Blog In Nigeria
YEach day I do a search on twitter with regards to Nigerian bloggers, someone always has a comment about Nigerian bloggers being rumor mongers or tabloid writers, which is sickening and annoying, other times I figure it is because of the known names in the blog arena. But I am proud to say that notion will be short-lived because I intend to move fast and dismantle that notion.Due to the success of this same bloggers, people seem to think making money blogging is either impossible without the right connections or extremely hard. I don’t think so and that is why I want to discuss about 5 different ways to make money blogging. Depending on your personality and what resonates with you, you can pick a path and see how you too can make a killing. So here it goes.
Private Advertising: This is what made Linda her big bucks, but let’s not forget her traffic numbers. Private Ads is basically this, you have a staggering amount of traffic, people trust your opinion and are always looking to see and read your thought on the matter. Then the big business tycoons say “help us attract your community by showing them a cross section of our products or services in exchange for some of our cash”. A private ad can be a local one as well. It doesn’t always have to involve the big shots. A good example is this, say you have a blog that is specific to a certain school and all the students go on there to know what is happening. If I run a business in that school or run a business where my target market is students, then I’ll pay you a visit asking you to advertise for me in exchange for cash. Can you do this? Then who says you can’t make money with your blog?
Create and Sell your Info Product: Ever heard the phrase Information Entrepreneur? Folks that write books can be classified as such. Since the invention of the internet, we no longer have to take our little books and all to the publication houses. You can have it published in a PDF file or a Word Document and uploaded. However the content you are putting out for sale must be information that folks are looking to buy. You start first by giving away information that is valuable and free and once you build a strong network of loyal followers, you are good to go. This time your watch words are “highly value and for a fee”. Again, a good amount of traffic is what gets your book out there. A good example of an info product would be to develop a blogging course and ask for a fee in exchange of your knowledge of blogs and content generation.
Affiliate programs: Affiliate programs works like this. Different websites that are selling products pay you a certain amount of money if purchase is made from a link on your blog redirecting to the seller’s site. It a method used by a lot of bloggers. It is similar to privates because you have to display the seller’s banners and or affiliate links on your blog page to attract customers and like I keep stressing, what will get you a size amount of sales is a good deal of traffic. Who says blog traffic can be ignored?
Write for other blogs: This involves generating content for other blogs and getting paid for it. I started generating income through this avenue early march 2013. It is a very good way to form new connections, expand your network and get lifetime followers. A very good place to source for writing gig is twitter. Other ways is by joining a good blogging network. You are paid to write for blogs publishing under a company or a brand. The payment works this way, either you are paid a flat rate for each blog post or word, sometimes you are paid based on how many page views your post generates.
Pay per Click Ads: This is another popular source. It is a good way, but I won’t advice going this route, because it takes a lot of discipline not to go click on the ads yourself just to increase your income. If you have great traffic, then by all means, go for it, but if you are just starting, my advice would be to look up the previous options, excluding number
